Your Race Navigator automatically records GPS position, speed, G-forces and lap times, but it can also access even more data from your car’s board computer. This data can be shown on the display when driving and on the iPad when analyzing your laps. The data transfer is possible both via OBD2 and, depending on your Race Navigator model, via CAN-Bus.
RN PLUG (OBD2)
The RN PLUG expands the possibilities offered by your Race Navigator inasmuch as it uses the data that is available through the onboard diagnose port (OBD2) of your car. Your Race Navigator can process and display RPMs, temperatures, and gas pedal position.
Just insert the RN PLUG into the OBD2 port of your car and start driving. The connection with your Race Navigator is established via Bluetooth. The Race Navigator records the supplied data automatically. The power supply for the RN PLUG is provided automatically via the OBD2 port.
Both the RN PRO and the new version of the RN ONE offer a CAN bus connection. This allows you to display even more relevant parameters on your Race Navigator and use them for analysis on the iPad. The required CAN cable can be ordered directly from us.
The CAN Bus allows your Race Navigator to display data like RPM, gas pedal position, water and oil temperature. Moreover, the CAN Bus gives access to additional data which are not available through the OBD2 port, for example steering angle, brake pedal position or gear. The exact types of data available through the CAN Bus depend on your individual car model. We will be happy to advise you on this topic individually – just send us an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
